My husband and I, mid sixties, are going to Lisbon after our Best of Spain tour beginning of October. Has anyone stayed at the Zuzabed Lisbon Suites lately? I have seen photos of the street, and there seems to be a lot of graffiti and gang tagging. Just wondering if this is normal in Lisbon, or has this area changed? I have the 2021 Rick Steve’s Portugal guidebook, and they recommend Zuzabed, so this is what I’m basing it on. Thanks for any feedback.

I don't know specifically about Zuzabed, but I just thought I'd add, graffiti does not equal gang tagging in Portugal. And yes, graffiti/street art is very common in Portugal.

I have stayed in Zuzabed numerous times and always found it clean, affordable and right I'm the city center. Suites are right in Bairro alto and walking distance to shops, sights, restaurants and metro, buses train. Very central !!!
Yes there's graffiti everywhere in Lisbon. Some is artistic some not. Don't let thst deter you! As someone else mentioned, there are street art tours available.
Suggestions, ask for Patio suites as there are stairs and one automatic lift .
