Wine Tasting in Vila Nova de Gaia (Porto)

Do any of the port wine lodges in Vila Nova de Gaia (across from Porto) allow walk-ins to sit and sample wines without taking their tour? I figure one tour is enough. Most of their websites are not clear about this.

We had wine tastings at Adriano Ramos Pinto and Calem without taking a tour. I will add that the Calem tasting location was at tables outdoors rather than inside and if busy, you may need to wait for a table to open up. We liked the Ramos Pinto wines much better.

Several will do tastings without a tour. Some charge and some are free. I would do a bit of research before you go to get more info. Koptke has a lovely tasting room but they charge.

You might want to Google World of Wine Porto. Lots of info there.

Yes, I know there are at least a couple of wine lodges where you can do tastings without having to do a tour. I'm guessing that they all allow for that. Many look to have open seating just to enjoy wine.

I found this article, that names a couple of lodges without tours. It was a few years ago, but we just walked around and walked into the lodges that looked appealing - focusing on the smaller ones other than Kopke. But, we were looking for regular wine since we don’t like port so much.

It’s a fun area to explore with little cafes and shops in addition to the port lodges.
