Wine lodges in Porto - reservations?

I will be flying to Portugal this weekend and will be visiting Porto for 4 days. I am just wondering if tours to the various wine lodges need to be booked in advance, or if tickets can be purchased upon arrival. Since a number of the lodges are located in close proximity to each other was thinking about just showing up on the day rather than booking in advance?

If you're talking about the Port Houses, then yes, you want to have reservations in advance. Especially if you're looking at the less frequent tours with older vintages.

Thanks for the reply. I guess in that case, I'll make a reservation for Sandeman. Ramos Pinto on their website says they don't take reservations so I'll show up in person for that. Also might drop by the Quevedo wine bar (although not for a tour). Between those places and the Mercado Beira-Rio, think I've got most of my Sunday planned anyway!

A winery, is a winery, is a winery. If you’ve been on one tour the rest are much the same in my opinion. We went to a couple places along the riverfront (Ramos Pinto being one), but just for tastings. No reservation was needed.

If you plan to do a tasting/tour at Sandeman you will need a reservation. Do the one with the vintage ports.
