Will I need adv tix to the Monastery of Jeronimos in early November?

Do you plan to go to Belem anyway? If so, I would just walk by and see what the line looks like.

Yes, we will be in the area. If it was a major attraction like Sagrada Família I would buy them but I’m not sure we really need to.

In a word - yes! It’s busy year round.

We were there in late September 2024 and when we arrived in Belem at about 10:00 a sign said the waiting line was 2 hours long and we counted 28 tour buses in the parking lot. We made the executive decision to wait until late in the day. We came back about 4:00 and walked right up to the ticket office and went straight to a line that took about 15 minutes to get in. There was no signage and so we had no idea we were in the line for entry into the free cathedral, the actual monastery was at the end of the block and there was no lines.

I went first thing in the morning in early October, 2022, with my timed ticket, purchased online the night before.

The line of ticket holders behind me to enter the cloisters was dozens of people and growing before I entered at 930am. Several tour groups went in first, per policy. They clustered to listen to their guides while I, and the other individuals near the front of the line, visited most of the spaces for a few uncrowded moments.

Back outside, I was nearly first in line for the free cathedral. Behind me, the line of large tour groups was very long by 10am, before it opened at 1030. When I left the cathedral around 1045am, the line was many hundreds of visitors, standing in the hot sun.

We were there last year in November and had no trouble walking up and getting tickets after standing in a short line.

If you are in Lisbon for several days maybe wait until you are there to buy in advance. I am there now and bought tix this morning for entry tomorrow. Even in peak season and at almost last minute I had a choice of entry times.

Follow up. We were in Belém at 10 AM and the have tickets line was forming up by ticketed time slot an hour in advance. We had a later slot and visited the other Belem sights. By 2 PM the line for the monastery was all but gone as were the tour buses the ohordes came on. So later may be better. At Torre Belém only advance bookings were getting in, and staff said tomorrow was also fully booked. So consider advance booking there also.

I can’t opine how my experiences in July are applicable to November.
