Which Neighborhood in Lisbon?

My husband and I will be traveling to Europe in September, we will end the trip in Lisbon. We are clueless about this city, help! Which neighborhood would you recommend to make our home base? At this point, I know these names only through VRBO filters. LOL

Lisbon Old Town, Baixa, Alfama, Chiado, Principe Real, Bairro Alto

Thanks in advance!

Ola
My wife and I are finished our 3rd visit and always stay in the same area
It is in the principe real around a small park
The Praca das floras
A quiet (relatively) enclave with it’s own restaurants and butcher
It allows us to easily go to any area yet return to a tranquil (relatively) “home”

It was suggested to me by the Portuguese tutor I worked with

Thank you Dennis and you too Gail!

We joke that we “travel to eat…” We chose Lisbon because of the travel food show “Somebody Feed Phil.” If you like to watch people discovering new foods, I highly recommend this series!

Safe and fun-filled travels to you both.

Consider staying in Baixa, Barrio Alto, or Chiado.
Lisbon is a hilly city like San Francisco so choose carefully the location where you stay. There are elavadores to take you from the flatter areas to those up above. Chiado is central.

Thank you for the recommendation Suki!
We used to live near San Francisco, we miss it, this will be great!

My daughter and her husband were just in Lisbon for a wedding. They stayed at Prime Lisbon - Boavista 44, booked through booking.com. They have different size apartments. She said it was very nice and in a great location. They loved Lisbon!

We just returned last night from Portugal and Spain. We stayed in an Airbb in Chiado and LOVED it. Great squares, restaurants, shopping, and close to major sites. Also, I'd highly recommend the Alfama neighborhood to walk through. Very medieval and interesting.
