Where to stay in Porto, Portugal?

We will be in Porto November 4 - 8. I have found good hotels by the Douro River and good ones in the center of town. Which is the best area to stay in? Thanks!

We stayed at the Hotel Douro that Rick's guidebook suggests. The online reviews really sold us. The location was great for being along the riverfront. However, the hotel itself is very small, but our rooms were very clean and comfortable. The staff were amazing and one staff member in particular had great suggestions for food and sights. Their hospitality really makes the stay here worthwhile. The breakfast was fine just not the best we had out of all the places we stayed in Portugal. We liked being able to step out of the hotel and be right on the riverfront among all the restaurants and people watching.

Personally, I like the Ribeira area by the water. I really enjoyed walking along the Douro River in the evenings and crossing the Ponte de Dom Luis I bridge to the other side for sunset.

Others will have different opinions depending on what they enjoy.

We stayed at an apartment: Casas do Porto - Ribeira Apartments https://www.casasdoportoapartments.com/

Also, I've heard that InPatio Guest House is considered excellent, but I have not personally stayed there.

We have stayed at the InPatio and it is indeed exceptional. And, was well located for us.

We too stayed at InPatio Guest House, fantastic location but very quiet, located off the street. Rooms were great, great breakfast, the hosts went out of their way to help us. We needed to catch an early train, she made sure she provided us with a sack breakfast the night before so we would have something, despite us declining the trouble. Would stay there on a return trip with no hesitation.

Thank you for all of your excellent advise! We will stay near the Douro as we all like people watching and sunsets from a bridge. Betsi
