Where to stay in Lisbon for 5 am flight out. Is Belem to far out??

We will be ending our 21 day vacation in Portugal in Lisbon November 13-17 with a 5 am flight out on the 17th. We are currently booked at an AirBnB in Belem for the period. Is Belem to far out to get to the airport that early? Will we be able to get transportation (we turn our car in once we get there)?

Would staying in Lisbon central be a better option? Or, any recommendations for hotels near the airport for the last night?

Most likely you can get an uber or taxi. Ask your AirBnB host regarding transportation. Sometimes they can arrange it for you.

Personally, I'd relocate to an airport hotel, within walking distance. TRYP Lisboa Aeroporto Hotel and Star Inn Lisbon Airport Hotel. But I always get a bit stressed regarding early morning flights and prefer to be extra careful about not missing it. I've actually slept at Lisbon airport the night before :)

You can always check into the airport hotel and then hop the metro back into central Lisbon for the rest of the day and evening. Very easy to get from the airport to Lisbon and back.

We just finished visiting Lisbon (8 nights). Actually it is very very easy and fast to go airport via metro. There is no metro station near Belem. It would be better to stay somewhere central and near a metro station. This way you can walk to most attractions and it is very easy to visit Belem via metro and urban train. Just do your route on google map, you will see.

Also it is good to get a zapping card when you buy bus tickets. You can buy it by choosing zapping option on tickets machine in all metro stations. The card is one per person, you load it with money amount (minimum 3€), and can use it for all bus, tram, metro, urban train ( to Belem or Sintra or other places).

Added: sorry didn’t see your flight time, metro open 6:30am, too late for you. Stay last half night near airport may be the only good option

Note that the security check time in Lisbon airport is fast. It was about 10 minutes or less when we were there on Oct 7th.

If I am looking at the map correctly, Belem is 10-12 miles from the airport.

I would be inclined to have your landlord arrange a cab/car service.

Or, any recommendations

Yes, Fire the person that made the flight booking.... :-)

We also have a 5 a.m. flight out of Lisbon (it was the only option) and are planning on staying at the hotel airport the night before. After experiencing severe delays trying to get back from Dublin earlier this year, we thought we would have to be at the airport by 2:00 am, but maybe by March 2023 things won't be so backed up.

Thank you all for your replies! I was just going to book a hotel near the airport when the 5am flight out of Lisbon was cancelled. Luckily we now have a 10:55 am flight so we will just stay the night before in Belem.

Yes, the person who booked the 5am flight was a little crazy (it was me) but the 5 am flight was $1,000 per ticket cheaper than the 10:55 am flight. So with 3 of us that would have been $3,000 for a later flight. That was crazy and how we ended up going so early! But I'm so glad the flight was cancelled.
Thanks Again!
