When? Will you have a car? Do you speak Portuguese?
I haven’t been anywhere in Portugal with bad food.
The Portuguese are shy people.
Avoid Obidos, Evora and Nazare if you want less touristy places.

If you're looking for a seaside location, around the summer season, I heartily recommend Ericeira! The town is quite pretty, there is a bunch of excellent restaurants in town, and there are some amazing sights nearby: Mafra Palace is very close, and even Sintra is within reach.
