What town/place is a must-see between Lisbon & Porto

We are headed to Portugal early November. Spending 2 nights Porto and 3 nights in Lisbon. Want to spend 1 night somewhere between Porto & Lisbon. We will be train travelling so would prefer a destination along the train route. Thx!

I found Tomar very interesting for one day and night.. It is much smaller than Lisbon, Porto, or Coimbra. I took a train from Lisbon to Tomar and then from Tomar to Porto (with a transfer along the way).

IMO, with only six nights between Porto and Lisbon, there is no must-see city in between. Generally, I find a one night stay to be a time waster. I would suggest adding the extra night to either Porto or Lisbon. Good luck.

I strongly agree with funpigs comment above. With only six days in Portugal you should divide that time between Lisbon and Porto.

We are in Lisbon now for another 2 days. We drove down from Porto staying in Tomar for 4 nights. We visited:
Obidos - so much smaller than i thought it would be. The main street (I think there was another but didn’t see it) was just one souvenir shop after another with restaurants thrown in the mix. We planned on staying a full day but were gone by 12:00.
Alcobaca - drove ther from Obidos. The Monestery and church were delightful. Again, not too much time needed. We wanted to eat there but it was 3:00 by now and all the kitchens were closed till 7 or 8. We walked up and down the street, every place was closed. You could have drinks but no food. The pastel de natal place Rick mentioned was open. We went in and took a number. They were up to #35, we had #67. We left.
Fatima - we spent the day here, but we went to a rosary service, mass, and confession. If you are not religious I would pass.
Tomar - a cute, small town. We ended up taking a tuk-tuk tour with a lovely woman for 2.5 hours. We went to the Convent of Christ, the Templar Church, the aqueduct, the old synagogue, and the matchbook museum Rick mentions. We walked every street numerous times. Again, every kitchen closed at 3:00 and couldn’t eat anywhere till after 7.
All these places were nice but I wouldn’t fret if you miss them.
