What to buy and bring back from Portugal / lisbon?

Will be visiting for the first time. Any ideas for great unique finds or souvenirs?

Thanks!

You'll find a wide range of ceramics, new & old, handmade and commercial. In Coimbra, I happened upon a well-stocked kitchen store and fell in love with some Portuguese sailing/discovery designs of hotel china, which in that case I chose over handmade options. Vinho verde wine is cheap and tempting to bring home, but both of the above are heavy, so you must be selective (or enquire about shipping from the shop).

Filigree jewelry is popular, and takes up no room in your suitcase.

we were in Portugal in Oct 2014.

cork is also light and travels/packs well.

Port prices are not much cheaper in Portugal than at Bev Mo--not worth the hassle.

one edible bargain is macarons at Acadia tasted as good as in France and were much cheaper.

Cork is something that is unique to Portugal. It is lightweight, easy to pack. The purses made out of cork are really pretty, not cheap though. I opted for cork coasters and hot pads. Some beautiful soap that was handmade in Portugal.
The ceramics in Portugal are beautiful but I hesitated to buy any due to length of time I am traveling. When you get here, something will strike your fancy!

I purchased the little, color Barcelos roosters while I was traveling there last summer. I found my two colorful roosters in Porto, but they are found everywhere.
I wanted to bring back both a bottle of vinho Verde and port, but there was no room. I took pictures of the labels. At my local store, the "wine" steward had both in stock and at cheaper prices.
I heard of the store, both in Lisbon and Porto, A Vida Portuguesa, www.avidaportuguesa.com
Plan on checking it out on my next visit.

Pastéis. Lots of pastéis. In your belly and eventually on your hips. That's what I brought home from Lisbon.
