My husband and I just found out he qualified for a corporate trip to Portugal at the beginning of May. Our itinerary in Lisbon and Sintra has been planned, but we’re arriving a few days earlier. We fly in on Saturday and need to be back in Lisbon by Tuesday am. Our first thought is to head to Algarve and stay at Salema. Any other suggestions for basically a weekend getaway close to Lisbon?

Several places closer to Lisbon. Cascais is very close - 40 minutes by commuter train. Ericeira is a bit further and likely quieter that time of year. On the other side of the Tejo is Setubal and Seisembra. Setubal is easy by train. Not certain about train connections to Seisembra.
I would not go all the way to the Algarve for just a weekend.
