Waterpik

I am in Lisbon and I plugged my Waterpik in with an adapter for the plug and it made a loud noise and stopped working. I did not try it again but am wondering if I have destroyed it or will it work back in Chicago?

Does the device show it is dual voltage?

If not, it more likely is dead.

Sounds like you needed a converter as well as an adapter
( or if it is dual voltage you needed to adjust that setting before plugging it in)
Lucky it didn’t catch on fire!

I’d say it’s trashed

3rd opinion, probably “dead.” I had a worse experience once. It wasn’t a Waterpik. I plugged something in (Paris) which I thought had dual voltage. I blew out the circuit breaker in the entire hotel! Fortunately they were very forgiving.

Yup, you fried it. Just buy dental floss to substitute for the waterpik. I assume you brought a toothbrush. 😉

We did this once and then got a CONVERTER. Note, a converter is not an adapter.
The converter will change the current from 220 to 110. This works quite well but don't skimp on the quality.
