Walking tours in Porto

Hello travelers,

We’re interested in scheduling a walking tour in Porto. Ideally something we can do early in our trip (a Monday or Tuesday) to get an overview of the city. We also would love suggestions for tours that take visitors to less well known areas or focus on a particular slice of the city’s history.

We love talking tours that limit group size to about 8 and where guides are well informed about history and culture. I’m hoping to get your suggestions for tours under 70 euro per person.

What tours have been memorable for you?

I checked my notes for my visit to Porto last October. Having just been on 2 fully guided tours in Turkey, I think I was on a DIY kick. So I followed the self-guided Upper Porto Walk and Lower Porto Walk from the Rick Steves Portugal guidebook.

Hello!

I remember I did a guided tour with Living Tours a few years back and it was the most complete experience I have ever participated in! The tour experts were awesome and gave us a lot of valuable insights on less well known areas of the city and restaurants where you can try Porto's traditional dishes.

From the Historical City Centre's to savoring Port wines in atmospheric cellars, each moment was a revelation. I recommend it a 100%.

I also used the RS guide for the Upper and Lower Porto walks. He points out the usual places and also little quirky sites, like mural art. I split up the walks between two days because I included the ferry crossing to Gaia as part of the Lower Porto walk.
