Hi Guy,
This is not the question of safety but weather. I would like to know is mid April warm enough to wear shorts? I am from Malaysia and this will be my first solo trip! Any advice is welcome. :)

It depends on where you're going, what the weather is like at the time (I've spent a week in April in Spain when it rained the entire time) and your own comfort. Coming from Malaysia you may have an entirely different opinion on what is warm or not than I do.
In Spain I will always be in shorts in April unless I'm in the mountains.
Weather varies a lot within Spain and Portugal. You need to start with some monthly climate statistics for the specific cities you will be visiting. You can find those in the Wikipedia entries for those citites.
Example: Barcelona entry in Wikipedia
April is part of the shoulder season, which means there can be a lot of day-to-day variation. Monthly averages are not sufficient for planning your wardrobe. You can go to the website timeanddate.com for actual, historical, day-by-day weather data for most cities around the world. Check April for at least the last three years; five would be better.
Example: Timeanddate.com weather summary for Lisbon, April 2022. Use the pull-down box above the graph to switch to April 2021, April 2020, etc.
Note that the cathedral in Barcelona (I'm not referring to La Sagrada Familia) has a dress code. You should have shoulders and knees covered if you want to go inside. I don't know about such rules in other Iberian churches, because I don't wear shorts or sleeveless tops in Europe.
April is the month I get out my sandals and cropped pants. However, that doesn’t mean it’s warm enough to wear them every day. You could likely wear shorts a lot of days but might need a light jacket on top.
Thanks acraven, haha i do know how to search for weather forecasts and history. However, what I need is to know how and what the local will wear. :P
Thanks kathrynj. Noted. Definitely will bring light jackets.
