Visit Pena Park before Palace?

The earliest time we can get Pena Palace tickets on the day we are going is 1030 AM. This is the time of entry into the Palace itself. Does this mean that we can enter the Park any time after opening at 9 AM? Given that we can't enter the Palace earlier and are just doing a day trip to Sintra, is it worthwhile arriving early and exploring the Park beforehand (to allow more time the rest of the day? How much time does it take to explore the Park separate from the Palace?

I can't provide any information about the Park, but I just heard from our tour operator that the interior of Pena Palace is under renovation, which makes the experience less enjoyable. I was wondering if anyone else visited the interior while under renovation and if it is worth it.

Hi, we visited Pena Palace 10 days ago. Your ticket allows you access to the park at any time. There are spectacular views from the terraces around the palace but we spoke to other tourists in Lisbon who saw nothing but fog. Hopefully you will have a clear day; it’s cooler and breezier in Sintra than Lisbon. Once you enter the park gates, there’s a €3 shuttle that takes you up a steep hill to the palace. Then you line up for your timed entry at the palace. Based on other posts, we chose to only buy a park ticket which includes the terraces so I can’t comment on the interior.

We were just in Lisbon and went to the Peña palace. While they are doing some renovations in the interior, it is still worth touring. The terraces are lovely. Someone mentioned the tram, you don’t have to take it, but be prepared for a pretty steep 15 minute walk uphill.
