I would like to visit the Vino Verde area north of Porto following the end of my Rick Steves tour in May. Have any of you had either a group or a private tour to the wineries using Porto as a base? My hope is to do a one day tour the day our RS tour ends, spend the night, and then catch the train to Lisboa for my last few days in country.

Quinta da Aveleda is my favorite Vinho Verde to drink and to visit, they offer tours and tasting of the different wines they make but you'll have to make your own way there.
You can take the urban train from Porto to Penafiel ( about 40 minutes and almost €3 per person each way) and then take a taxi to the Quinta.

That looks lovely, and possible. At this time they are not taking reservations for May 2024. I am hoping that is due to a restriction on booking too far in advance!
