I am looking at a flight from Boston to Lisbon, then a 50 minute layover in Lisbon before a flight to Rome.
Does anyone know if I can count on the airline (TAP) to get us to the connection or will passport control slow us down and it is too risky.
Thanks
Yes if you missed the connection due to the first flight arriving late TAP will put you on the next available flight to Rome. TAP has 3 more flights to Rome after the one at 6:50. Otherwise just pick the one with the 4 hour layover. Hopefully it does not cost much more than the one with the 50 minute layover
TAP would have to put you on the next available flight to Rome if you miss the connection, but the keyword here is available. How late is the later connection?
The trip a single ticket issued by the airline, or a do it yourself combo of flights?
There’s no way I would book a flight with a connection of under an hour, even if it is on one ticket. What happens if you miss your connection and their flights are full for 2 days? Yes, they will pay, but it’s you that gets inconvenienced.
Looking at the TAP site, the shortest layover I see for BOS-FCO, via Lisbon is 90 minutes in Lisbon
Appears OP is trying to cobble together two separate bookings that would require direct divine intervention to pull off.
The trip is all TAP flights from Boston to Lisbon. Lisbon to Rome. Rome to Sicily. 50 minutes between first two flights.
So it seems the general consensus is that this is too risky. As you have said even if TAP is responsible it may take a day or more to get to my final destination.
So then I am considering maybe buying two separate flights from different airlines with more time in between for layover. Have some of you done that?
