Two Weeks for Portugal and Azores (while training for a marathon)!

Hi,

My partner and I planning on visiting Portugal in mid-April. We have a total of approximately 15 nights, 15.5 days depending on flights. We'll be running a marathon in early May, so training needs to be considered for this trip (and we hope to go to places with great running routes)! Of course we are also looking to explore, hike, sightsee and relax too. The places that have caught our eye include the Azores, Lisbon, Algarve region and Porto/Duoro valley. Is this doable given our circumstances? Any other recommendations to make this trip as enjoyable and smooth as possible?

Thanks!

Two weeks is a good timeframe to see Lisbon, Porto/Douro and many of the interesting towns in between such as Tomar and Coimbra. I would only add in the Azores if you can fly directly there from your home city en route to the mainland, otherwise you will waste too much time in transit.

The Algarve is all about the beaches and golf and I would focus further north for your first visit. You certainly can’t see all 4 places in 2 weeks.
