Trying *unsuccessfully* to buy train tickets online....

Hi! I've been trying for the last week to purchase tickets on https://www.cp.pt/passageiros/en for my upcoming trip (train from Lisbon to Porto & back again). Every time I try to check out I get an error message.

Has anyone else had issues with this website or do you have suggestions on where else I could safely purchase these tickets?
Thank you!!

Speaking as someone who has to sort out computer problems, two questions:
1) How far did you get in the transaction?
2) What exactly is the error message? Please copy-paste, do not paraphrase.

My first port of call for such questions is the relevant page from the "Man in Seat 61" website: https://www.seat61.com/international-trains/trains-from-Lisbon.htm
And he says "The Portuguese Railways website www.cp.pt sells tickets online for Portuguese long-distance trains including Lisbon-Porto and . . .", so I can't help any further.

Every time I try to check out I get an error message.

Exactly what is the error message? Makes a difference, you know...

The exact message (and this comes at the very end - after I've entered my credit card info, ect & clicked submit):

System Failure
Error in payment. Please try again,
SIV:SLE:40

(I have tried two different cards)

I'd suggest notifying your credit card institution regarding your planned international transaction(s).

Hope this helps!

Yes, in my case that was what was needed. Contact your Credit Card and then they will ask you to resend. I actually got a message from my Credit Card one time about a Train Ticket Purchase!

FYI...
Last May when traveling from Porto to Lisbon, the train conductor/inspector was coming around checking passengers tickets.

I reached for my cell phone where I'd saved all our tickets and pulled up the correct tickets for that route. When I showed him my phone, he waved it away with his hand and asked to see our IDs instead.
Once I showed him our passports, he scanned the names and that was it!

Yes, I concur. This credit card transaction is being booked in Portugal. Many Credit Cards by default block transactions in other continents as potential fraud.
You need to tell your card company you are making purchases in Portugal.
