We are planning to travel to Portugal in November, and I know it rains there during that month. Does anyone know how heavy the rain is?!
We've visited Lisbon and the Algarve twice in December. It was wonderful! The only rain we have had was a tropical storm that blew through. One night of rain and strong winds, and then it was beautiful again.
Yes, it (hopefully) rains in November. However, it’s rarely an all day affair. It’s usually brief showers (not that heavy) interspersed with sunshine. November is a lovely time to visit even if you are dodging the rain. It’s cooler and there are many fewer tourists.
There’s no such thing as average weather these days. I have had torrential rain lasting all day in late October and also some pleasant, warm days. I haven’t been in November.
Thank you for all your replies. I also found a good website: https://myportugalholiday.com/portugal-guides/portugal-november.html. which only says to avoid the Douro area in November.
Hi Kathryn: I noticed that you are from Cascais. We are thinking of spending our last day in Cascais, before we head to the airport the next day. I found a nice airbnb. Are there any hotels you would recommend? Thanks!
Michelle, there are a number of very nice hotels depending on your budget. If money is not a consideration, check out the Albatroz. Right downtown with killer views. It’s in an old mansion/palace and was renovated 3 years ago.
If you need to watch your spending a bit, look at the Baia. It is also downtown in a different location and is right on the bay. The others I could recommend would be out os town a bit and not so great for a one night stay.
Thanks Kathryn!
