Traveling on Easter Sunday

My wife and I will be in Portugal for two weeks and plan to take the train from Lisbon to Porto on Easter Sunday. Are we in
danger of getting to the city when everything is closed? Restaurants, markets, bars.
We are trying to get some input from our prospective AirBnB operator, but would like all of your thoughts/experiences also

Thanks,
Dennis and Elinore

During Easter time Portugal is "invaded" by Spaniards on holidays, so Porto will have it's share and everything will be very busy. When you get there, walk around the city, go to the seaside at Foz/Matosinhos. Porto will be, as usual, crowded with visitors and everything will be open. Most museums and attractions like the Port wine cellars will be open too. Nightlife will be bustling as always. Take a train and go to the Douro Valley for the landscapes. Braga boasts the best Holy Week celebrations in Portugal, so Easter Sunday or Monday is a good day for a daytrip there from Porto. Guimarães is another great daytrip as well.

We too are traveling from Lisbon to Porto on Easter Sunday. We have decided to drive and while there may be a lot of traffic, we plan on stopping off in a couple of places along the way as we don't have our lodging until after 4 pm. Any suggestions on where to stop on Easter in Obidos or elsewhere?

You can stop for a tour of these towns near Porto and Obidos on Easter Sunday before you check in at Porto hotel.

Fátima, Nazaré, & São Martinho do Porto, BragaGuimarães, and Viana do Castelo.
