Traveling Europe (Portugal/Switzerland) with a CPAP Machine

You guys on this forum have been awesome sharing your knowledge so I am reaching out again. U.S. Air carriers do not count a CPAP device as carry on luggage. Can I expect that same courtesy on Aerlingus and Swiss Air? Also can anybody recommend some conversion kits for use in Portugal/Switzerland as my unit is wired for US current

Thanks in Advance,

My CPAP uses either 110 or 220--yours probably does, too, but there should be a label on it that says so. If so, all you need is a cheap/simple adapter for the plug.
Since I don't use the humidifier on my CPAP it's pretty small and I just put it in my carryon bag.

If your machine is relatively new (three years old or less), then it probably will operate on 110-220 volt outlets. Check the fine print on the machine, or check the owner's manual. We've never had any trouble carrying the CPAP on airlines overseas, We've carried it on flights in the Netherlands, Germany, UK and Scandinavia so I suspect Aerlingus and Swiss Air will be no different. We have frequently had to request an "extension cord" to set the machine near the head of a bed, so now we carry a extension with us.
