Travel to Lisbon

Hello,
My husband and I, along with our 3 grown sons (late 20's and early 30's) will be traveling to Ireland and Lisbon this September.
We have our flights and will be staying in Lisbon for about 3 1/2 days.

Looking for suggestions on places to visit and lodging. We all like to walk and hike. No physical limitations. My husband had mentioned a trip to Fatima.

Thank you for any suggestions you can offer!

Fátima is about 1.5 hours from Lisbon. It’s been decades since I was there, but you probably wouldn’t need more than 3 hours to visit it. Nearby is Batalha Monastery considered to be the finest example of Portuguese architecture. Also near Fátima is Tomar, headquarters for the Order of Christ/Kbights Templar in Portugal. Closer to Lisbon are a number of sites to visit. You simply need to do some research to see what seems interestiing to you.

There is plenty to see in Lisbon. All easily reachable thru walking or public transit The castle, the Monastery, the Tile Museum, the convent, a side trip to Sinatr, the miles of River front , the Gluckenbein museum. . Just buy The RS guidebook. The Hotel da Baixa is well located and a very nice hotel in the middle of things.

Hello from Wisconsin,
I have to do a shout out for the Museu Calouste Gulbenkian. This is a really fantastic art museum. It is one of the only museums I have ever visited that has one of each. And that 'one' is a winner. 5000 years of art. Heck, the story of the self-made millionaire collector of this art is worth the trip alone.

Highly recommend. A little known art museum.

We traveled to Ireland and Portugal both in 2022! In Lisbon we stayed at The Ivens, a Marriott property. It was just lovely and near lots of shopping, restaurants and things to see/do. But this is also where all the people from the cruise ships come in so can get crowded and touristy. We then went to Porto – which we absolutely loved! When we came back to Lisbon, we stayed at The Emerald House, a Hilton property. It was not as nice as The Ivens and was further out, but gave us other parts of Lisbon to see including Pink Street and Green Street. Alfalma area was fantastic and walked through Sao Jorge castle. We found this great little frites stop that had just opened on our walk back from Sao George. really enjoyed it. We did not get up to Parque Eduardo but drove past it on way to airport and that area looked really nice. Have fun-glad we went!
