We are looking at the train schedule from Lisbon to Coimbra and the prices are listed for two types of tickets in first and second class the AP regular ticket is33/23. and the Promo ticket is 20/8.50. Does anyone know what the promo ticket is?
The promo tickets are purchased ahead of time and give you a significant discount - as the website indicates. They are non-refundable, but you can make changes in date or time for a minimal amount.
There are also senior discounts - if you qualify.
Thank you both for the information. We are both definitely seniors. Is it best to just wait to buy tickets, then, since they will need proof of age to get a senior ticket? or will they just check at the station if you purchase tickets and say you are a senior?
Buy your tickets ahead of time. You can print the tickets. They ask for some type of ID, in your case passport number, when you purchase the tickets. That gives them the info they need for your age. They will also ask to see your passport when they check your tickets on the train.
Thanks for the information. I believe we will go ahead and buy the tickets. They seem to be easy to exchange and we travel by a schedule because we have rented all of the places we will be staying so we will have to leave on the days we get our tickets. When you are in your late 70's you want to make sure you have a place to lay your head at night.
