travel between Porto, Portugal & Madrid

We are ending our tour in Porto, Portugal and want to travel to Madrid on a Friday in October. It appears that train travel is not convenient and/or efficient. Am I wrong? Air flights are on TAP Portugal. Anyone have experience with this airline? Any other suggestions for travel between these 2 cities?

TAP is quite reputable - they are part of Star Alliance and I've taken them in the past. The flight was fine. I am taking them again from London Heathrow to Lisbon in a couple of weeks. Just pay attention to what is included in the price as there are 3 or 4 different prices depending on when you book and how flexible you want your ticket to be, as well as possibly different luggage allowances.

I think Iberia also flies between Porto and Madrid. Ryanair flies from Porto to Barcelona - you could check to see if they fly Porto to Madrid. Very restrictive conditions on Ryanair and you pay extra for almost everything. Luggage restrictions can be onerous on Ryanair.
