Transportation to Porto airport for 6:30am departure.

Staying at HM Porto Jardim for 3 nights in Porto. We depart for a 6:30am flight to Amsterdam, then a flight back to the US. What time do we need to arrive at the Porto airport? Should we call an Uber or Bolt to take us to airport or are they undependable at that hour? Would it be best to have hotel arrange for a taxi instead? Also we are considering staying our last night near the airport and take their shuttle. Kind of hate to do that as we would have to check out of Jardim at noon and have them store out luggage, having no place to come back to to refresh and relax during the day but we also wont really even stay the whole night there. Any advice please.

It’s not that far from town to the airport so no need to stay out there overnight. Either have your hotel arrange a taxi or schedule an Uber. I’ve tried to schedule a Bolt but it wouldn’t work. But, have scheduled an Uber a couple of times successfully. Personally, for that early a flight, I’d likely ask the hotel to book as they would have arrangements with the taxi companies for extremely early flights.

Thanks, I think that is what we will do. What time should we be at the airport?

Yesterday we flew from Porto to SFO (with a stop in Lisbon) on a 7:00 am flight. Scheduled a Bolt the night before at 4:00 am. The driver showed up right on time and we arrived at OPO by 4:30, and made it to the gate way before the 6:15 boarding. We used Bolt exclusively for 2 weeks in Lisbon, Coimbra and Porto and never had a problem. They are great and about half the price of Uber.

Nothing about your question, but we thoroughly enjoyed NH Porto Jardim last year. It was in a good location and had a very extensive breakfast buffet.

Trying not to arrive at OPO too early. What is the latest I could arrive without being stressed out?

Personally I'd say 2 hours ahead of the flight would be fine, but my wife thought 2.5 hours was perfect to avoid ANY stress. I was a bit surprised how busy the airport was at that hour, and we had to check bags and clear security.

I found Uber worked well in Porto if I made the reservation hours in advance. But if you don't you'll have to use a taxi and that will cost more. I'd stay at the hotel, make the uber reservation the afternoon prior, and be at the airport no later than 5am.
