Transportation to Monsanto

I will be in Portugal for 24 days September 2022. I have purchased and read Ricks 11th edition Portugal. But this town isn’t referred to in this book.
I need transportation from Lisbon to Monsanto for one overnight, two if necessary. Renting a car is not an option for me and info on public transportation is not consistent. What am I missing? Even Rometorio.com has incorrect information.
Can anyone help me with this? I can’t imagine leaving this destination off my itinerary. Thank you, Becky

Hi
Do you have the correct name? Because Monsanto is a park IN Lisbon it's the largest green space in Lisbon.
Happy travels

Rome2Rio can be a good starting point when you're not sure whether you need to take trains, buses or a combination of the two. In my experience it is very unreliable in the detailed information it displays on fares, travel times and frequencies. You need to keep drilling down through the website until you find the name of the company providing the transportation you need to take. Go to that company's website (Rome2Rio usually provides a clickable link) to find the actual schedule. It's way too early to see a schedule for September 2022, but it may well be the case that the current schedule will still be good eleven months from now.

I assume you mean Monsanto that is one of the 12 historic villages. I read about it about it, was intrigued, and briefly looked into trying to visit a couple years ago but with a shorter trip it was too time consuming to consider without a car. My 2019 Lonely Planet guide book for Portugal does cover Monsanto and says: "Without a car, Monsanto can be difficult to reach. Rodoviária da Beira Interior ( RBI ; % 272 320 997 ; www.transdev.pt ) has one direct bus daily between Castelo Branco and Monsanto (€5.90, one hour), leaving Castelo Branco at 5.15pm Monday to Friday, 12.25pm on Saturday and 11.40am on Sunday, with a bus returning from Monsanto at 7.15am daily. Ask at the turismo in either Monsanto or Castelo Branco for the latest schedules." I read somewhere else that there are direct buses to Castelo Branco from Lisbon and some other major cities.
