Transportation from Pena Park Entrance to Palace

Can I pay for transportation from the entry gate to Pena Park up to the Palace once I'm inside? I'm recovering from surgery and think the walking may be too much.
Is it possible to pay in advance? Is it unreasonable because of lines to get on the bus? I'm planning to go at 5;00pm. Any more advice?

There is a Shuttle bus. According to updated RS 2023 Portugal pg 166 you buy tickets at the small hut next to the gate or ticket booth outside the main gate, cannot buy them online Or from the bus driver. There is a slight incline walking up from the shuttle up to the palace. May want to bring a hiking pole or cane. It’s so worth it.

Since you are planning to be there late in the afternoon, make sure you find out when the last shuttle leaves from the palace back down the hill. The last shuttle is before the palace closes

We were there at the end of August and purchased our shuttle bus tickets online in advance. https://www.parquesdesintra.pt/en/plan-your-visit/tickets-palace-of-pena/
After you choose your date and time, you will see under the options for “Tickets” (number of adult/youth/senior/child/family) the option for “Supplements - Transfer” and a bus icon. This is where you can choose to purchase shuttle bus tickets. It again asks you to choose the number of adult/youth/senior/child/family, but the price is the same for all. We took the shuttle up, but did not take it down. (We walked over to the Moorish Castle.)
I don’t know what the line for the shuttle will be like at 5:00. We had the first entrance of the day. People were certainly lined up for the shuttle and we were there early. Later in the day I might leave yourself plenty of time to get one before your entry time — although we were there during a very busy time of year.
