Transportation from Lisbon to Lagos

We are traveling with another couple this fall, 4 seniors, all well-traveled in Europe. We're starting our Portugal trip in Lisbon and then moving to Lagos. What is best way to travel to Lagos? We are afraid that we'd need a "van" for 4 people and luggage, so are looking at bus or train. Any recommendations on which is preferable? Price is not main criteria. Thanks Rick Steves aficionados!

Hi,
It's a bit of a dilemma, but I think train wins. Time is the same. Price is close, but train is actually cheaper if you are over 65 (check www.cp.pt for fares). Train requires a connection in Tunes (easy) while the bus is direct, but to me it is way more comfy than a bus because you can walk around and actually talk between the four of you if you sit at a table.

The train is very easy, inexpensive and comfortable. Purchase your tickets online 2-3 weeks ahead.

We just left Lagos a few days ago with a one night layover in Evora. We had rented a car for the last few days of our stay there so we could explore the area. We visited Silves and Sagres and then drove to Evora and then on to Lisbon the drive was easy and we felt the $140 Canadian was well worth it. We dropped off the car in Lisbon so we didn’t have to pay for the very expensive parking.
