I just noticed that the Rede Expresso , CP trains and Alsa bus ( goes to Spain) all have apps that I downloaded onto my phone for my upcoming trip to Portugal. Has anyone used these apps? Have you had any problems with buying tickets with the app?

No trouble buying tickets using the CP app.
Did not try out the Rede or Alsa.
I did download Flix Bus, Citymapper, Uber, Lyft, Freenow, and Bolt. We did not use any but husband did look at Uber and Lyft for Porto going from hotel to the train station but we ended up using taxi.
A couple of things I did learn:
If you use an iPhone, with the latest iOS 17 update, you can actually download offline maps and not need to rely on internet connect. The transit map view for Lisbon is very good and shows both the metro lines, tram lines and metro stops, and also bus stops. The transit map view for Porto is incomplete as it does NOT show the metro lines although it does show the metro stops.
Freenow which used to be something like a taxi app is no longer operating in Portugal. They left the country in April 2023. From what people had said about that app, it used to be a great app to use in Portugal to call up taxis.
