Train Travel throughout Portugal

I see there are several train options for travel from Lisbon to Sintra, Porto and even Guiniaraes. Any suggestions of means of travel when visiting these areas from Lisbon?.

When searching there are suburban rail services called Rail Ninja and Omio and what appears to be the main company Comboios de Portugal. Curious if we should stick with Comboios as we want both the fastest and what I read was AP trains.

Thanks.

Rail Ninja and Omio are not suburban rail services, or any rail service, they are third party sellers of tickets and comparison websites.

Comboios de Portugal is the official state carrier, I would look there first, and buy via the app.

Always use cp.pt
You can purchase from the website or app. If you buy ahead of time, you save significantly. But even full price, trains in Portugal are quite reasonable.

Hi, we bought our train tickets for Lisbon to Porto on the CP website and it is easy. Buying earlier ensures the best rate. The AP train is the fastest and only makes 3 stops. Just be aware that it leaves from Lisbon Oriente station which is not downtown but close to the airport. Porto to Guimaraes is a commuter train route, about an hour with quite a few stops.

Just got back from Portugal and traveled mainly by train. Buy everything via the CP app, it is easy and convenient way of purchasing and then showing your ticket on the train. If you take an Urbana train, remember to validate before you get on the train. We did not validate, but the ticket collector was super nice and didn’t fine us, just reminded us to do it upon our return. For Sintra, Uber or Bolt is inexpensive and it is a more convenient way to get to the Pena Palace.
