Train to Pinhao vs pocinho

We are taking the train to Pinhao next week. I’ve read a couple posts that the scenery is best beyond Pinhao. Are we missing out by not taking the train further? We always could ride to the end and take return to Pinhao but that is a lot of train time. We are planning on a boat tour that would take us further but only by 30 minutes or so I.

We did a Douro River cruise about 8-10 years ago. We thought the Douro was the most scenic river valley we had seen in Europe and we have traveled a lot. I know at some point the river narrows as you go east. I seem to remember that it was a bit different as we ventured closer to the Spanish border. Not sure I would say it was better, but I suggest you try to go farther east.
In fact, if you can visit Salamanca, Spain (we did visit it by motor coach after reaching the farthest east port.
