Train strike May 20 & 21

Hello Fellow Travelers,

I just received this alert from cp.pt and thought I’d share it with you in case it may affect your travels.

Significant traffic disturbances on May 20 and 21
Due to a strike
called by a trade union organisation, cancellations of trains in all
services on May 20 and 21 – nationwide – are expected. Traffic
disturbances on May 19 and 22 are also expected.

Please refer to the official website here for more detailed information: cp.pt.com/ alerts/strike

This strike may actually affect our travel plans, but we’ll just have to figure out a different way to get to our destination!

Edited to add an UPDATE!

The train strike has been cancelled!😊
Yay!

Oh, Priscilla, I am so sorry to hear that. I know you had long-distance plans then. Is there bus service? What a shame you have that stress when you've just barely arrived.

Priscilla, usually the hard days are the days of the strike. The day before and the day after might have more affluence of people, but the disturbances should be minimum. I hope!

Priscilla,

It's great to hear that the strike has been cancelled. Hopefully there are no disruptions of that type on your trip. Perhaps a shot of Ginjinha is in order to celebrate the cancellation of the strike.

Hi Ken!

Perhaps a shot of Ginjinha is in order to celebrate the cancellation of the strike.

Ha! My daughter thought Ginjinga tasted like cough syrup! I tasted it and it was okay, nothing special, and extremely sweet! I suppose it’s an acquired taste...

BTW, since I’d booked our train tickets 3 months in advance I‘d forgotten that I’d booked first class (I think the difference in price was only €2) for our journey from Lisbon to Évora! Our seats were very comfortable and the journey was pleasant.

Ciao!
