Our RS tour ends in Porto May 23, and I’ve searched and searched to see what is more reliable to get us back to Lisbon to start the return trip back to the states the following day.
Today, I noticed trains are on strike until May 2.
OK, bus then. Does anyone have a recommended
Bus company from Porto to Lisbon Oriente?
Thank you.
Rede expressos is the national bus company.
They have bus routes from Porto Campanha to Lisbon Oriente.

Flixbus also runs the same route.
The strike, as I understand it from a TA destination expert, is less a full-fledged event and more a work stoppage when it comes to overtime hours. The consequences to passengers are said to be relatively minor.
I am planning to take the Flix bus for my return to Lisbon simply because Flix makes stops not only at the Oriente station but also at the airport, and with my early-morning flight, I believe I'd like to stay within very short distance of the airport on my last night.
I’ve taken both Flixbus and Gypsyy from Lisbon to Porto. Both are good with Gypsyy having a real bathroom on board similar to an airplane.
And, this far out especially, the announced train strikes don’t mean much. Many times they are settled before the announced date. But, the bus would give you peace of mind.
Your answers have been helpful and will allow me to move ahead with several choices.
@kathrynj We are traveling between Lisbon and Porto on 4/29/2025 and haven't made travel arrangements yet. It will be a single day round trip excursion. When I do a google search for bus trips between the two I am seeing FlixBus, Alsa and Rede Expressos for bus options but not the Gipssy. Is Gipssy sort of like the Greyhound busline in the US or are they just a travel broker like Rome2Rio? Thank you.
