We will be visiting Lisbon for 3 nights this September; then taking the train from Lisbon to Porto to board our river cruise.
Rather than taking the train from Lisbon (Santa Apolonia station) to Porto (Sao Bento station) can we get off at the Vila Nova de Gaia station?
Would there be taxis available at Vila Nova de Gaia station to take us to Cais de Gaia to our cruise ship berth? (Bus connections are not very efficient and involve a lot of walking.)
Peter,
You can certainly get off the train at Vila Nova de Gaia-Devesas train station, or just book your tickets from Lisboa -Santa Apolonia to Vila Nova de Gaia- Devesas Station
I’d presume that there would be taxis outside the station, but to be safe, I’d suggest contacting the cruise company and asking them this question.
Worse case scenario, you’ll need to call a taxi yourself.
Enjoy your visit to beautiful Portugal!
Hi
Once you exit the train station building at Vila Nova de Gaia ( at the street look left and you will see black cars with a green roof and a taxi sign on roof).
Happy travels
Thank you Priscilla and Aulopone. Looks like Vila Nova de Gaia is a viable option for us,
