Train from Lisbon to Porto

Hello

My wife and I arrive in Lisbon for a 2-week adventure (mid-Sept 2026). I am trying to purchase tickets to the high-speed train from Lisbon (Santa Apolonia station) to Porto (Campanha station). The website (Comboios de Portugal) allows for advance purchase 1st class tickets, but it's hard to determine which seats actually face the same direction that the train is heading. The carriage diagram tells me the direction the train is going and shows seats (by number) with a shaded bar. Does the shaded bar represent the headrest or the foot rest? Am I missing something?

Thanks,
Whit

Is there a reason why you need to face the same direction (northbound) as the train? The view is the same and it's not much view anyhow. You can see the beach only for a short spot near Espinho, and the rest of the route is pretty unremarkable.

Not the best explanation:

The AP train car is divided in half, half the seats face in one direction and the other half face in the opposite direction, they meet in the middle where 4 seats face each other with a small table in between them .

Look at the arrow indicating the travel direction of the train, since you're traveling North the seats on the north side of the train car will be facing backwards the South side will be facing forward, the dividing line between North and South is the 4 seats facing each other.
