Train ,bus or car from coimbra to evora

Hello travelers,

We would love your perspective on the best way to travel from coimbra to evora. We typically love using public transport - especially trains but wondered about the ease of driving from coimbra to evora— 1) is this a better option to shorten travel time between the two 2) are there enough direct train options that don’t stop/ transfer in Lisbon 3) are there any points of interest that we can stop along the way that make renting a car worth it? This would be a one way rental picking up in coimbra and dropping off in evora.

We’re not necessarily looking for the cheapest option.

I would take the train, especially if you can transfer trains at the same station. Check out the connections at Oriente station. I’m thinking you should be able to transfer there. If not, you would have to Uber or taxi to another station, making it more challenging.

If you want to explore the country between Coimbra and Lisbon, there are a number of places of interest. But it would take 2-3 days.

We rented a car in Coimbra and drove to Evora in Nov 2022. Best part was a stop off in Tomar to visit the UNESCO Knights Templar and a stop at Conimbraga first for some Roman history. Easy to drive and beats train hands down!!
