Two couples visiting Portugal in late April into May for 13 days. We start in Porto for 2 nights pick up a car and head to the Douro Valley for 2 nights in a beautiful hillside AirBNB. My current plans have us visit Guillamare on the way to our villa. Our hosts offer a meal prepared by local neighbors at our villa on the first night which we have heard great things about and are taking advantage of. On our next full day my question is whether to spend the money on a tour of the Douro Valley or if self-driving and touring on our own is feasible. We would visit a winery, have lunch perhaps take a hike and maybe a short private boat ride. Tours offered for this are pricey but look great. Just not sure if we should go with a tour since we have our own vehicle.
Advice appreciated from those that have experience.
Thanks
