Tour of Evora and Almendres or Fatima, Nazare, and Obidos

We were seeing Portugal on our own, and not using a tour, but Evora was a highlight. Any itinerary that includes Evora would be my pick, no question.

We visited Evora, Fatima, Nazaré and Obidos on our RS Tour. Least favorite- Fatima, Nazaré & Obidos. I enjoyed our night in Evora. We did a tour with Lisbon Riders to Sintra & Cascais. It was prior to our RS Tour.

We did find that a regimented, packaged, full-day 59-passenger bus tour was an efficient and relaxing use of a full day in Lisbon. (And we DID rent a mighty American steel steed for independent northern Portugal, after several nights in Lisbon.)

Been to the places on both.

First, unless you are a devout Catholic, Fatima is OK to skip.

Obidos is great a small town with an ancient Roman Wall. I love it, but you can do the town in an hour or hour and a half. Nazare is nice, on the coast with beaches, worth a couple of hours.

Evora is an interesting city with of Roman ruins, Almendres has some interesting Neolithic Stone circles.

Both are good, suggest looking at TripAdvisor for details and pick the one you like.

Have you seen the Rick Steves, Portugal episodes? You can watch them on this website, PBS or Amazon Prime. I can't recall if he covers Evora, but he does cover Fatima, Nazare and Obidos. From the episode and from reading the RS guide, I decided that Fatima isn't a priority for us, we are not Catholic. Nazare does seem interesting to me for a few hours, but the part that seemed most interesting was Sitio which is a funicular ride up from the beach. I would make sure your tour goes up there.

It depends on your personal tastes, Evora and Almendres are good but only 1 place and not much to see in Evora compared to Fatima, Nazare and Obidos.

Almendres are 3000-5000 BC i love to see it but en joy much more Fatima energy, Nazare waves and views and Obidos castle.

Search well before choose.
