Hi, going to Lisbon in October, what would you recommend to see in Lisbon? What are the greatest beaches close to Lisbon? And is it easy to go to Fatima by train from Lisbon?
Many thanks!
It may be better to do a little research to see which sites are of interest to you. A recommendation to see a museum or monastery is worthless if you don’t like museums or monasteries.
I had a rental car in Portugal when I visited Fátima. Note there there is more to Fátima than the sanctuary itself. A couple miles away are the houses where the children lived as well as two places the Angel of Peace appeared, as well as where Mary appeared. Some walking is involved for the secondary sites as the houses are a half mile or so from where the Angel of Peace appeared.
There are direct busses from Lisbon to Fátima taking 1h 30m.
I agree with Jamie. To us, the smaller sites were more personally moving than the very large Sanctuary complex.
Thank you for all your messages.
For Lisbon and around, I was thinking of Queluz palace, Sintra, Belem, and LX factory plus MAC/CCB museum
My trip report might give you some ideas. I spent 8 nights in Lisbon in March 2024.

Thanks for the report, very interesting, Belem is for sure on my list !
Carrie's report was very helpful in my planning. I have a report in progress on the Trip Report board right now, but it is a July-based family trip.
