Tomar or Evora?

I'll be in Lisbon for 1 week in April.
I'm thinking of a day trip, or maybe overnight to either Tomar or Evora.

I've been to Alcobaca and Batalha and really enjoyed them. But it was too hot last August to visit Tomar.

My husband wants to eat black pork, so open to suggestions or where to get a good meal.

We didn't eat very well in Tomar, but we were only there for lunch. In Evora, try Taberna Típica Quarta-feira and Restaurante Fialho for pork and regional cuisine in general. Both were excellent. Fialho was a bit more expensive but totally worth it. A husband and wife run Taberna; she's the cook, he does wine and carves the pork for the appetizer trays. Both do an admirable job. Make sure you have reservations for both places.

Taverna Antica was a really fun place to have dinner in Tomar. I don't see black pork on their menu, but the food I had was delicious.

Tomar itself didn't impress me. It was very useful as a base (with a car) especially to Alcobaca and Batalha. The monastery in Tomar paled in comparison and that was the top sight - in fact just about the only one. Evora definitely has much more to offer. An overnight would give you time to take a tour to the megaliths and or a cork factory.
