Tips on what to do/see in Porto?

We love wineries, history, local homemade pottery, tiles, good food, moderate hiking...scenery. We will be in Porto Sept 2,3, 4 2018, then on to Lisbon. Thanks for any advice. Just the 2 of us. Kim

The Palacio da Bolsa ( also known as the stock exchange building) is definitely worth a tour. We were able to go there in the morning and book tickets for the tour for later in the day. As well, on the side of the building is a Wine of Portugal tasting room, which is a fun and very inexpensive way to sample Portuguese wine.

Parts of Porto we found very crowded. But if you walk uphill a bit you can get away from the crowds. The gardens at the Crystal Palace have great views of the Douro. We also really enjoyed seeing one of the Port lodge cellars, and if it is warm that is a cool spot to be.

Don't miss the food tour with tasteporto.com-it is amazing and last between 3 and 4 hours. WE've done at twice, and the tips you get will help you fill out your itinerary.

We were staying at Blue Socks Hostel in Porto and they advertised a free walking tour, Porto Walkers. Not something I usually like to do, but thought I would give it a try. The tour was great and they offered what sounded like a really good winery/sherry tour. Trip Advisor lists all kinds of tours there, so take a look and see what others have thought of their tours, both good and bad.

We really, really enjoyed Porto. Beautiful, photogenic, and with friendly people.
