I looked up on Google and found a private tour where you paint the tile in the morning and at Near by tile factory, then go to lunch and then visit the tile museum in Lisbon. All for the price of $275 I guess that’s American money. So it’s a day private tour. I still thought it was seem to be a lot of money $275 I’m pretty sure the entrance to the tile museum is not that expensive and you can just get it in expensive light lunch and then go visit the factory yourself with the bus because somebody said visiting the factory was free. It just seems like an expensive day $275 maybe I’m wrong. Has anybody tried The workshop.?
I will be in Lisbon for seven days after attending a wedding. And I was planning on taking day trips where I can do some painting and skip sketching. Do you think that’s too many days in Lisbon seven days should I take a trip someplace else just so I could see something else? Rick Steves said too many days in one place could get boring. What do Are you experienced travelers feel about seven days in Lisbon arriving on May 1 leaving on May 11. Thank you very much
Charlotte, $275 may be reasonable for a group of several people, but seems very high for one person. What is your situation? I very much enjoyed the Tile Museum and had a nice light lunch in their garden cafe. You might want to go there by taxi, because it is quite a walk to or from the train. I also found a small antique tile shop in Lisbon, which I really enjoyed, a highlight. I brought home a tile made in the 16th century, probably a remnant from the huge earthquake which devastated Lisbon in 1755.
Many people take a day trip to Sintra, but I really enjoyed spending two nights there, and would encourage that. There are several beautiful palaces, estates and gardens in or just outside Sintra. You could easily spend a half day at each, more if you find yourself sitting to paint or sketch here and there. Sintra is a lovely small town, good restaurants and bakeries, nice shops, lots of public street art too, sculptures both traditional and modern. I bought two handmade tiles in a small upstairs tile workshop and gallery, operated by a woman and her two daughters. Sintra is about an hour from Lisbon by train, easy trip. The day Sintra is especially crowded tends to be Monday, since most museums in Lisbon are closed, and lots of people take day trips then.
You are correct - $275 is very high for a day, even with lunch and the tile museum. The price is for a small group - not one person. If you are over 65 (or maybe even 60), the museum is very inexpensive and lunch is usually around 10€. I would suggest looking for someplace else to paint a tile and visit the museum on your own.
And, it really depends on what you want to see and how you like to spend your time on vacation as to whether 7 days is too much. There are a number of day trips you can take. But, I’m one that usually stays a week each place when I travel. Sintra and Evora are great day trips, as is Belem. Óbidos is possible by taking a bus.
Did you see the replies on when you asked similar a few weeks ago? Not a lot of solutions but I did link an alternatte avenue of research.

There just may not be enough demand for group tours or the process os complicated enough to warrant the limits and costs.
Doesn't it require firing and glazing after painting? So doesn't that mean either shipping it home to you or a pick up some days after painting?
While looking for ceramics studios I might be able to visit, I came across this tile painting workshop in Lisbon for 25 Euros. It sounds pretty good in that they provide background on the history and the process. You can pick up your fired tile in 24-48 hours or arrange to have it shipped. Even better (for my own interests), for 40 euros you can do the hands-on tile painting workshop plus a walking tour of buildings with tiles plus a stop for coffee and a pastry. https://gazeteazulejos.com/tile-painting-workshops/
