We are trying to decide which town to stay in while visiting this area of The Algarve. We were thinking of staying in Lagos but not sure. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

When is your trip? Is this your first trip to Portugal? How many nights will you have in Portugal (not counting the night on the plane? How many nights are you thinking of spending in the Algarve?

Lagos is a good location for a beach holiday as you have a choice of long and easily accessible beaches or small coves backed by cliffs and therefore accessible down lots of steps. There’s also a good choice of restaurants. Alvor is good for families.
If you don’t want beaches or golf, there are better areas of Portugal to visit.

If you are from California, why pay to fly to Europe to go to the beach?
The rest of Portugal is wonderful, especially around Lisbon and Porto (and in between).
