known for embroidery linens with colorful flower motifs, lace, wicker, pottery, local products made from local things. curious shaped chimneys on rural locals homes, colorful churches, "theatres" of the holy ghost with fancy decorations and shapes. with quite a bit of azorean people immigraing to the big island of hawaii to work on sugar plantations (my grandfather was one of them) we love the holy ghost feast celebrations every year at the church for fun food and entertainment. heard about the wines but didn't know about the moonshine which sounds interesting to learn about.
