Looking for feedback/reviews for TAP. Looking to fly from Toronto to Barcelona and back from Lisbon. Would you recommend or avoid?
We flew Boston to Lisbon and then Porto-Lisbon-Boston a few years back on TAP when we did the RS Portugal tour. We were pleasantly surprised that it was a relatively nice experience. We do carry-on on the way to Europe and if I remember correctly my suitcase was about at the limit, 20ish lbs, so I took a few things out when before it was weighed at check-in and then put them back in afterward.
They are a good airline and I can really recommend them if you are going to southwestern Europe.
At least as good as the others.
I flew them to Venice last year and thought they were fine -- I'm a budget traveler and have always try to find the cheapest flights (for our family of 4) with shortest legs if not direct, and TAP filled the bill. The only thing I would caution you on is that everything costs extra (seat selection, bag, etc). So your initially cheap-seeming flight may wind up as expensive as the bigger airlines.
I can't speak for flights from Canada or USA on TAP Airlines. That said, we did fly TAP from Porto to Madrid several years ago. It was a positive experience. We purchased our tickets months in advance and it was very affordable. The flight was on time & comfortable. Great customer service. We would fly TAP again.
Porto to Lisbon last week. Short trip, fine trip. Timely departure and arrival, attentive attendants and comfortable seats that felt fairly roomy but then I was only actually on the plane for 40 minutes!
