We are finishing our Rick Steve’s tour in Porto. We are looking for suggestions for activities after the tour ends. Would like to spend a few extra days in Portugal and then fly out of Lisbon

Will your tour include the Minho region north of Porto? Guimaraes, Braga, Viano do Castello are all very worthy of a visit.

I took a couple of guided day trips from Porto. One great one was called “Tras Os Montes and Alto Douro” , which went to a very northern rural area, rarely visited by tourists. Included a couple farm and winery visits, etc. I really enjoyed it, off the beaten track. I also took a guided day trip to Santiago de Compostela in Spain, and visited the church which is the ultimate destination for the various Camino pilgrimages. That one especially involved a lot of time on the road. I also went to Guimaraes on my own by train.
