Stop in Fatima

We are traveling from Porto to Lisbon and would like to stop in Fatima. Any suggestions on what to do with luggage? Anyone who has been to Fatima is it feasible to have luggage with us while visiting Fatima? I’m not comfortable leaving luggage at the bus station. We’re trying to avoid back tracking to Fatima from Lisbon, when we could stop on our way .

I’m not certain where you would keep it if visiting the basilica or sanctuary and it would be impractical to have it with you while walking to the Angel of Peace statue. Maybe there’s a luggage storage location closer to the basilica than the bus station.

I was looking for the same thing and came across this website usebounce.com I have not used them as yet but the reviews are positive. There are 5 locations in Fatima and the cost is 5E for 24 hours. Apparently these are manned storage places. Again not personal experience but perhaps something to look into.

Thank you! I’m going to give this a try. It will save us time not to have to back track to Fátima. I’ll report back on our experience, going in a few weeks.

I'd comment that you are applying a home-life logic (of an SUV to the Mall) to widely separated rural locations not well-served by serial (as opposed to more common radial) public transportation. As an alternative, we used a (gasp!) day tour bus to Fatima and couple of other popular sites, on a long day-out from Lisbon. I found the hour free-time at the Fatima site to be plenty. I'm simply suggesting that this might be more relaxing than your proposed plan.

We did in fact rent a car to leave Lisbon and head north to Porto, but I didn't want a car for more days than necessary. We did stop at Bom Jesu with the car, but while a larger pilgrimage site, without personal "Faith" involved, it wasn't that rewarding.

Hotels are cheap & Plentiful in Fatima, close to 100e with breakfast. I am planning on doing my own overnight trip from Lisbon & the reason is to attend the candlelight procession (around 9pm). I will walk along the Via Sacra “The Sacred Way” which was the path the children took to Fatima ending at the village of Aljustrel and visit the homes of the 3 Shepard children during the day. There is also Valinhos sanctuary the site of the apparition of the angels. I love Fatima for these special places. Also visits to Little Chapel, Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary & Holy Trinity Basilica. This will be my 3rd visit.
Having luggage is cumbersome I’d say.

I use Rede-expresses.pt The web page is easy to navigate. Click the British flag for English. They have an app to download too but I like to see it big first. We went Porto-Fatima 2 nights, then Fatima-Lisbon by bus 2019. If you use google map then enhance it you get a feel for how close things are. I am staying at Mercury Fatima end of September for 83e. I don’t think it includes breakfast. This year bus to & from Lisbon.

One more thing. There is a little hop on hop off mini white train. It has 6 stops. As mentioned we walked to Valinhos and took this train back. As I recall it took a long time waiting for it to make its rounds.
Just google Fatima tourist train for more information. And make time to shop for linens.
