Start planning for the next adventure

Hello,

I am presently planning my next voyage to Portugal. Normally, I wouldn't look for a resort-like place but I am meeting up with an old friend and she would like some R and R. Could someone recommend a resort or at least a very laid-back place that would accommodate a beach-lover and wanderer? Some options I have found are Faro ( is it quiet?) or find an island in the Azores? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Not sure where u are based but Azores Getaways has lotsa specials for the Azores. Usually from Boston. Well priced.
portugal has the algarve but there is alot to see also,
Have u thought of a cruise? She could r&r and u could take the excursions that are offered. Seems like a win-win to me.

What time of year?

Are you going elsewhere in Portugal? Must it be the Algarve?

Faro is a working city and wouldn’t be my Algarve recommendation. If you want the Algarve, I would head to Lagos. A choice of long flat sandy beaches or cliff backed coves. Walking along the top of the cliffs.

If you are going to have a car, which is best to explore the Algarve, then somewhere such as Bordeira, Carrapateira or Aljezur up the western coast of the Algarve may suit.

If you want something further north, Foz do Arelho or Sao Martinho are on the coast would be my recommendations.

The Azores aren’t really a beach destination but good for walking and wildlife watching.

The island of Sao Miguel is perfect for beach lovers and wanderers looking for adventures. Some other Azores islands have pristine beaches and swimming areas as well. You will be surprised as to how many beaches there are in the Azores.

I sent you a private message with the link to my Azores guide. I think it may help you see some options that may be under the radar.

There are no “beach resorts” in the Azores. What you will discover may be even better..
