Spend the night in Evora?

My wife and I will be traveling from Lisbon to Madrid to fly back to the states. We have two days to make the trip by car and I want to see Evora. Is it worth spending the night in Evora or drive on to Toledo for the next two nights?

Jimmy, I just returned from Portugal today. I spent one night in Evora arriving mid afternoon and leaving late afternoon the following day. I've also spent a night in Toledo, three years ago. I think one night in each would be fine, giving yourself a day in each. I stayed at hotel Solar Monfalim. Very nice and not expensive. Had dinner at "quarter to nine" restaurant. Enjoyed it.

I stayed in Evora a few days last week for a conference. I think one night in Evora is very worth it! Evora is quite small and entirely walkable. I toured the town (within the ancient walls) a few times during my stay at different times of the day. It's beautiful, old and mesmerizing.

Please note that St Francis church (where the bone chapel is located) is currently closed for renovation. I'm not sure when it's scheduled to reopen. It's a shame I didn't get to see it. However, there are plenty to see and feel in this ancient town.

I agree with the others. I spent a night in Evora. Well worth it! One night in Toledo is enough.
